Netflix has released the official trailer for Finding Her Edge, a glossy new coming-of-age drama set in the high-pressure world of competitive figure skating, filled with fake dates and a complicated love triangle. Watch the trailer above, then read on for more details.
Synopsis and cast
Based on the 2022 young adult novel by Jennifer Iacopelli, the series centers on the Russo sisters, the heirs of a struggling figure skating dynasty, and the story focuses on their 17-year-old middle sister Adriana as she trains for a world championship. With family rink finances tight, Adriana and her new skating partner Braden decide to pretend to be a couple on the ice in order to attract sponsors and keep the business afloat. Naturally, blurred lines follow. The trailer depicts the emotional tension between Adriana and Brayden, and everything gets complicated just as her former skating partner and first love Freddy reenters her life.
Netflix has cast relative newcomers to its core trio, including Madeleine Keyes as Adrianna Russo, Cale Ambrosich as Brayden Elliott, and Oliver “Ollie” Atkins as Freddie O’Connell. Adriana’s sisters Elise and Maria are played by Alexandra Beaton and Alice Malakhov, and the broad ensemble includes Millie Davis as Riley Monroe and Harmon Walsh as Will Russo.
Netflix Skate Show fans react to trailer
A quick scroll through the YouTube comments below the trailer reveals many viewers openly lamenting the cancellation of Netflix’s early skate dramas Spin Out and Zero Chill, which had a cult following before being canceled. The reaction has been a mix of excitement and alarm, with some fearing history will repeat itself. If the series connects and is given some breathing room, it could finally give skate fans the longevity they were denied last time.
release date
Finding Her Edge will premiere on Netflix on January 22, 2026.
