Australian actor and comedian Felicity Ward joins Ricky Gervais and Steve Carell as the new face of The Office franchise, launching The Office Australia today.
It’s a huge role for Ward to step into, and the series already has global platforms and other versions, most notably The Office UK and The Office US, which have garnered a cult following, and have starred Gervais, Carell and John Krasinski. has catapulted stars like , to iconic status on the show. fan.
But Ward was able to find relief after receiving a message of support from one of the show’s big name celebrities, which is still hard for her to believe.
“I sent a message to Jenna Fischer,” Ward told 9honey.

“She and Angela Martin, who does the Office Lady podcast, knew about the show.”
Ward wasn’t expecting a reaction, knowing that Fisher is a huge star with 3.5 million followers on Instagram as of this writing.
So not only was it a huge surprise to get a message back from her, but she was also super excited to have Fisher supporting Ward, her new role, and the new The Office Australia.
“She wrote back right away and said, ‘We’re so excited for you and we’re rooting for you. We think there’s room for a thousand spin-offs on this show. It was like, ‘Here’s my email, we’ll get you on the show.”’ Ward explains.

About each cast member of The Office Australia and who they know.
“Yeah, I’m in touch with Jenna Fischer and she’s an angel.”
When asked what it was like to contact Pam Beasley, Ward says she couldn’t believe it.
“It was awesome. I can’t believe she messaged me back,” Ward explains.

Although Ward has kept in touch with Fisher, he hasn’t had as much luck with other lead actors.
“I have never contacted Steve Carell or Ricky Gervais for advice. I’m sure they don’t reply to my emails.”
Ward says she hasn’t had the wise advice of her predecessor, but thankfully she doesn’t feel a lot of pressure to make such a big decision.
“[The Office UK and The Office US]are both great in their own ways, but there are about 10 other versions and then our version, so this is our own little show. I think so,” Ward explains.
“I don’t know, but I don’t feel pressured because I don’t Google myself or the show or read the comments, so it’s okay.”

“It’s fun to play an incompetent woman,” Ward said on set. (John Platt/Prime Video)
Kissing the air, Ward jokingly added, “I’m living in a fantasy, baby.”
Ward is right that this is a completely new and unique show, and one of the biggest differences is that the lead character is a woman, which Ward says is refreshing.
“One of the great joys of this show is that Hannah Howard is rather evil to the feminist movement,” she says.
“What I’m trying to say is that it’s fun to play incompetent women. A lot of times women and female characters are the most competent people in the room, but Hannah is very bad at her job. “He should have been fired for every day he worked in the office,” Ward said.
“So it’s really nice to play a female chara guy and it’s just a joy, an absolute joy.”

It was only recently that Ward saw the final cut of the show come together, and it brought her great joy, a joy she hopes viewers share.
“I have so much love for this show and so much love for everyone on the show and everyone who worked on it. I’m going to visit all my friends again… and hope others feel the same way when they watch this movie. I hope. ”
All eight episodes of THE OFFICE will premiere worldwide (excluding the US) on Prime Video on October 18, 2024.
