Rose Mata Feo and British star Felicity Kendall join Tom Sainsbury, Morgana O’Reilly and Alexander England in the cast of the Sky New Zealand Originals Comedy Mall Town Scandal.
Filming is now wrapped in this series. This is an adaptation of the iHeartradio nz True Crime Parody Podcast by Sainsbury of the same name.
It follows Toby (Sainsbury), the host of the podcast, which premiered in 2026 and became a dishonorable journalist. As Toby dives deep into the case, he finds himself surrounded by a cast of quirky, eccentric townspeople, carrying his own secrets.
Kendall stars as Toby’s mother Sue, while Matafeo wins a guest star as his cousin Carol.
“I’ve always loved the quirks of small town life, and I’ve been on screen with such an incredible cast,” Sainsbury said.
“A satirical take on small town drama and the obsession of true crime — it’s absurd, sincere and mystery.”
The Small Town Scandal is directed by Ghazaleh Gol and Calvin Sang, produced by Georgina Conder, Carthew Neal and Sainsbury. It was commissioned by the directors of Sky New Zealand’s Originals, Sky Open’s Thomas Robbins, Skygo and Neon’s Thomas Robbins, and New Zealand’s support.
BBC Studios is handling global sales and will launch a series to Mipcom buyers.
