Warning: Contains spoilers for Alien: Romulus. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you’ve been warned.
Dear friends and readers, you’ll want to make room in your calendar for important movies scheduled for release in 2025. Thanks to a new interview with 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell, the timeline for Alien and the outlook for the Predator franchise are a little clearer.
Unfortunately, this good news comes at a price, and that price may have been paid by the latest update to the Kingsman series. It was a very sad development for me. So let’s break this down one step at a time and ignore that a Planet of the Apes sequel is up in the air.

A sequel to Alien Romulus is in the works
Let’s start with the good news. If you survived Alien: The Wild Endings of Romulus, your attachment to the survivors is about to be rewarded. In a discussion with THR about the current state of 20th Century Studios, Asbell provided the following update on a potential sequel:
We are currently considering plans for a sequel. We haven’t signed a contract with Fede (Alvarez) yet, but we’re going to sign a contract and he has ideas that we’re working on. The two survivors, Lane and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Johnson, were a real highlight of the film. So I always think, “Wow, where do people want to go next?” We know that aliens are going to show up. We know there’s going to be a great horror set. But I fell in love with both of them and would love to see what their stories are.
Steve Asbell – THR
Between Reign becoming a terrifying new character in the history of female protagonists in the Alien series and Andy establishing herself as one of the best androids in the universe, this news is very promising. be. Needless to say, this is good news to consider in addition to the recently announced Alien: Isolation sequel continuing to live on in the video game world.
Fear not, Predator fans! I promised you good news, and the good news came not once but twice.

Secret second Predator movie to be released in 2025
For a movie that started out as a direct link to the original streaming distribution, Prey is doing very well in its own right. This action/adventure blockbuster starring Amber Midthunder greatly delighted fans and led to demands for a sequel, which then pivoted to the next installment known as Predator: Badlands.
We knew the movie would be set in 2025, but Steve Asbell’s 20th century status quo was revealed with a bit of a surprise. Another Predator sequel was also filmed in secret. Here’s how that outlook evolved through Asbel’s continued statements.
Yes, the Predator movie will have a theatrical release. I’ll tell you very simply. After “Prey” was a success, Dan (Trachtenberg) came back and said he didn’t want to do “Prey 2.” So we said, “What do you want to do?” And he came up with a lot of really crazy but really cool ideas. I actually did two of them. There are two books scheduled to come out next year.
Steve Asbell – THR
The theatrical movie is Predator: Badlands, starring Elle Fanning, which Steve Abel says is “a completely crazy idea.” This is science fiction stuff, but it’s not what everyone thinks. Continuing to talk about Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator sequel duology, Asbell hinted at another mysterious project:
There will be a second Predator movie and we have other plans. Dan actually directs both. …There’s a secret Predator movie that will be released before the theatrical version, but I can’t say anything about it yet.
Steve Asbell – THR
So the reason I’m reading this news is that while Predator: Badlands will be released in theaters, this untitled Predator sequel may be available for those who subscribe to Hulu. That means there is. At least, that’s how I interpret Steve Asbell’s very carefully worded address on the topic at hand. Once again, fans of the Predator movies are just as victorious as fans of Alien.
Leave it to Dan Trachtenberg to be reminiscent of how Ti West filmed X and Pearl back-to-back, but also Trachtenberg’s secret sequel 10 Cloverfield Lane Delivering a stealth sequel that will make you feel. But not everyone can be a winner, so I encountered something that was really upsetting to report. Kingsman Saga fans are advised to read this next section at their own risk.

The ‘Kingsman’ franchise may have had time to die
Remember when Matthew Vaughn teased a lot of Kingsman movies and TV shows in 2020? Did the 20th Century Studios president say we’d see the final chapter of Eggsy’s story, or even future chapters of it? We’ve put out a simple but solid update on whether you should expect it or not, so if you don’t, it’s probably for the best. Case. The heartbreaking truth can be summed up in these words:
There are no plans to implement this in the near future.
Steve Asbell – THR
Is this the end for the franchise as a whole? The above statement is not strictly true, as it does not completely close the door on the termination of the contract with 20th Century Studios. And given that Vaughn’s MARV Productions owns every inch of Kingsman, he might be able to find a new studio partner to help spread his continued vision. .
However, it still depends on finding a studio willing to fund projects like Kingsman 3 and Kingsman 2. And since the less-than-impressive box office fate of “Argyle” was probably the “Kick-Ass” director’s attempt to pave the way for such a back-up plan, I wonder why I’m practically preparing for a funeral. You’ll know what you’re doing.
However, both the Alien and Predator franchises are in much better shape than before, so they still have a net positive outcome. Great new releases from both lines have left fans wanting more, and that demand is likely to be met in the near future.
As it stands, Prey is available to watch in its physical release or on its streaming home, Hulu. You can also buy or rent Alien: Romulus digitally, with 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and VHS (yes, you read that right) available on December 3rd.
