The 50m, 100m and 200m individual events consist of heats, semi-finals and finals. The top 16 in each heat will advance to the semi-finals, and the top 8 in the semi-finals will advance to the final, where medals will be determined.
The individual events at distances of 400m, 800m, and 1500m and the team relay events consist of two stages: heats and finals. The top eight players or teams will advance from the heats to the finals.
