The Capitol has gotten some new and highly recognizable faces. Elle Fanning and Kieran Culkin officially joined the stacked cast of Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Fanning depicts the trinket of young Effie, but Culkin assumes the role of Caesar Flickerman. Both characters have previously been iconic in the original Jennifer Lawrence strain film by Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci.
Who will play Elle Fanning?
Fanning’s version of Effie looks at the character much earlier in her career. In this chapter she is a stylist assigned to the Capitol of Tribute Haymitch Abernathy, played by newcomer Joseph Zada.
“One of the questions that resonated with fans all over the world from the moment Suzanne released the book is who will play Effie?” said Erin Westerman, co-president of Lionsgate film group. “Elizabeth Banks created her iconic thing. So who could have respected that legacy while reverting us back to Effie’s early and most formative days? For us, there was only one answer. Elle Fanning’s career was transcendent.
Who will Kieran Culkin play?
Real pain from Oscar’s victory, Culkin stepped into Caiser Flickerman’s colorful shoes. At the Panem game host, hilarious jokes pretend to be a much darker role in Capitol’s sights. Stanley Tucci’s Caesar was all refined smirk and anxious charm, but Culkin might bring something a little different to the table.
“Keylan’s scene-stealing presence and undeniable charm make it perfect for Caesar Flickerman,” Westerman said. “Stanley Tucci made Caesar unforgettable, and now Kieran will make a total role for himself.”
Franchise producer Nina Jacobson said, “Keylan’s magnetism, wit, and unpredictability make him a perfect fit. Hosts like Caesar turn atrocities into entertainment, and the same layered actors as Kieran keep their eyes open.”
Who else is in the cast?
Fanning and Culkin join the ever-growing ensemble in the first part. The story focuses on the 50th Hunger Games, a second quarter quell, and shines the spotlight on teenage Haymitch, who famously performed Woody Harrelson in the original film. Other cast members include:
Whitney Peak as Haymitch’s girlfriend is as May McKenna Grace as a fellow tribute and as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Maya Hawk as Beatty Lemons as Jesse Lemons as a fellow tribute donor as Jesse Lemons as a young Plutarch Havensilly Kelvin Harrison Jr.
