EB Games has confirmed a voluntary recall of used PlayStation and Xbox consoles purchased between September 1, 2024 and October 30, 2025.
This is due to an issue with the testing and tagging process, which may result in some consoles not completing the required electrical tests before being sold. This includes used PlayStation consoles such as PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
EB Games advises customers who meet the criteria to:
Please stop using the device immediately. Please return the console and power cord to your local EB Game Store. Starting Saturday, November 1st, choose one of the following options: Return your console and power cord to the store for free retesting. Send the unit and power cord to our store support center for electrical testing and tagging. Once completed, the same console and power cord will be returned to the store for collection. This option helps you retain your saved games and settings. Alternatively, you can request a replacement of your current console and power cord, or a different model. Newly tested units will be available starting Tuesday, November 11th. If you do not wish to retest, replace, or exchange your console and power cord, you may receive a refund to your original payment method or EB Games gift card. When you return the console, it will include “the HDMI cable, controller, and other accessories (controller charging cable, stand, AV cable, etc., console and power cord, etc.)”.
The full statement is available on the EB Games website here or on the Product Safety website here.
