It took me right up until the week before its release, but as of today, EB Games has not pre-ordered the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2.
As of today’s website listing and posts posted to social media, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be shipped for the second time since today.
This applies to both standard consoles and consoles including the Mario Kart World Bundle (which sold out in EB in a day or so, but has been happening since I returned).
As far as I know, all other retailers still appear to be able to access launch inventory, but if you want to pick up your Nintendo Switch 2 next Thursday, it appears you will probably need to get a pre-order for safety.
Pre-order status in Australia is completely different in other countries such as Japan and the US. Nintendo advised that there wasn’t enough stock to meet demand at launch, and pre-orders sold out immediately.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in Australia on June 5th, including Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour and the Legend of Zeldabot/TOTK Upgrades. Check out the full console preview here.
