Set in the world of corporate law, the murder mystery from Easy Tiger is the third project to receive funding from a dynamic TV scripting initiative.
Written by Sarah Dollard and Scout Cripps, How to Kill a Client follows what happens when a highly reputable law firm partner becomes a major suspect in the murder of a client. However, this investigation proves to be trickier than expected, as murderers have motivations, means, broken moral compasses, and moral compasses to escape them.
The series will be produced by Easy Tiger’s Ian Collie, Rob Gibson and Nat Lindwall, with attached by Katherine Miller as director.
The way to kill clients is under the initiative following Nicole Delprad and Kate Sepavic’s “Dark Mode” and Anna Burns’s “Dark Mode.” The initiative will provide $100,000 in development funding ($50,000 from Screen Australia and $50,000 from Dynamic TV) to bring serial and procedural drama to life.
Louise Goff, director of Screen Australia’s story content, said the way to kill clients drew viewers to a charming whodunnit structure of laughs and mystery every turn.
“We are proud to be able to support the project and its powerful creative team along with Dynamic TV to showcase the wide range of talents of Australian screen partitioners,” she said.
Carrie Stein, president of Dynamic’s Global Script TV, explained how to kill clients as a “sharp, dark and funny series of razors.”
“From the first reading, we were drawn to the corporate world’s ambitions, loyalty and that twisted take on the moral grey zone,” she said.
“This is exactly the kind of bold, character-driven storytelling designed to support a scripted initiative, and we’re excited to help make it happen for our global audience.”
