The trailer above shows protagonist Iris, played by Kelsey Asbill, running, hiding, fighting, and simply trying to survive in the wilderness while being pursued by a would-be killer.
“(‘Don’t Move’) is the story of a woman who is in a difficult situation and is at rock bottom,” co-director Nett told Tudam. At its center is Iris, a mother grieving a tragic loss. “Suddenly, she realizes that she has been given a paralyzing drug and her body is slowly but surely shutting down. She is now fighting for her life. is.”
The numbing agent was injected into Iris’ body by a stranger she met on a hiking trail while she was going through a difficult moment. With 20 minutes until the drug takes effect, she faces a deadly challenge. Iris’ body is shutting down, and her pursuers are closing in on her trail.
Produced by legendary director Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead), Don’t Move is shocking and surprisingly emotional. “Reading the script itself was like non-stop page-turning,” Raimi told Tudam. “It’s an emotional experience, especially for a suspense film.”
So sit back, keep your eyes on the screen, blink if you have any questions, and learn everything you need to know about Don’t Move, coming to Netflix this fall.
What is “Don’t Move”?
A grieving woman seeking solace deep in a remote forest encounters a stranger who injects her with a paralyzing drug. As the agents gradually take over her body, she must run, hide, and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.
The very premise of the film posed a challenge to the filmmakers. “It was scary because the script called for the actors to be still for many minutes during the movie,” says producer Sam Raimi. “I was worried that the audience would get restless, but the director handled it very well, and it became even more suspenseful.”
Directors Brian Netto and Adam Schindler (50 States of Fright, Delivery: The Beast Within) worked on the concept with the film’s screenwriters TJ Schinfel and David White (Shut In). built. “The challenge we told them was, ‘We want it to happen in real time,'” says Netto. “We love those kinds of movies.”
Running around 85 minutes, Don’t Move unfolds in the same time frame as the characters are experiencing. “You literally feel like you’re on this ride every moment,” Finn Wittrock told Netflix. “I haven’t seen that much in movies before, especially movies with this kind of level of darkness.”
Iris is forced to navigate in every direction and around seemingly impossible new obstacles, often with little range of motion. “It’s a propulsive, stripped-down thriller, but it also feels very personal at times,” Asbir told Tudam. “That’s what resonated with me: fighting desperately to overcome something that has left you feeling numb.”
Netto and Schindler took pleasure in increasing the film’s tension in every scene. “We accused the writers of putting themselves in a corner,” Schindler added. “In every scene, we’re thinking, ‘OK, how can we be harder on her?’ How do we push ourselves? So how do we get out of there?” ”
Who is in the cast of Don’t Move?
The cast of Don’t Move is as follows:
Kelsey Asbill (Yellowstone, Fargo) Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story: Hotel, The Big Short) Moray Treadwell (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Downton) Daniel Francis (Bridgerton, Small Ax)
To play Iris, Asbir had to tap into dark and often difficult emotions. But there was a further obstacle. It involved performing with very little use of her body language. “I had to rely really heavily on[Netto and Schindler]especially when it came to paralysis and what translated on screen and what didn’t translate on screen,” she said. says. “The script depicts a stage of paralysis, but you have to convey your emotional experiences and inner conflicts, and physically you are very limited. It was a challenge, but we will solve it together. It was fun.”
Whitlock was in awe of his co-star’s ability to convey complex emotions with little physical movement. “Kelsey had an incredible challenge: expressing so much with so little ability to use the bodies we commonly use to express ourselves.” It was like I had to do it. After watching the movie, I was really impressed with her communication skills.”
“They worked really hard on set,” Schindler said of Asbir and Whitlock, adding: “They worked really hard on set.” “Finn was very introspective and always exploring different things. I thought it was really fun to watch.”
Neto agrees. “They worked really well together and were really great,” he says. “We were really lucky.”
