The headline “Blade is infinitely behind” is becoming all too familiar. Well, the same thing happened again.
Not surprisingly, Disney has removed Marvel Studios’ Blade from its release calendar. Blade was scheduled to be released in theaters on November 7, 2025, but Predator: Badlands, a Predator movie starring Elle Fanning and directed by Dan Trachtenberg, was released on Blade’s old November release date instead. It was decided that it would be done.
It’s been more than five years since Mahershala Ali donned Blade’s hat at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con to announce that the vampire hunter would be joining the MCU. Ali stars as Eric Brooks, aka Blade, a sword-wielding hunter with vampire powers who is immune to sunlight. Ali had a voice cameo as Blade in Eternals.
Wesley Snipes famously played this character in New Line Cinema’s Blade trilogy and Deadpool & Wolverine.
Production on Blade has been hit by numerous delays and creative setbacks. Originally scheduled for release in 2023, Marvel postponed Blade to 2024 after original director Bassam Tariq left the film in September 2022. Yann Demange was appointed as Tariq’s successor in November 2022. After a strike delayed the release of Blade to 2025, Demange left the film in June 2024. Eric Pearson will rewrite Blade after Stacey Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starberry, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green contributed to the screenplay. Filming for “Blade” has not yet begun, and a director has not yet been decided.

In addition to changing Blade’s release date, Disney has added three Marvel projects to its 2028 release calendar. The date is February 18, 2028. May 5, 2028. And November 10, 2028.
Marvel has three movies scheduled to be released in 2025. Captain America: Brave New World will be released on February 14, 2025. Thunderbolts on May 2, 2025*. After Fantastic Four, only two other Marvel movies have confirmed release dates. This includes Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
