It’s been clear for months that Marvel Studios’ Blade movie would not be released in 2025. Disney has officially announced that Blade’s release date has been removed from November 7, 2025, and the reboot will no longer have a spot on the Marvel movie calendar.
According to Deadline, Disney’s 20th Century Studios is already preparing a replacement movie for Blade. Predator: Bad Lands is set for release on November 7, 2025, and marks Prey director Dan Tratechenberg’s return to the franchise for his first feature film since 2018’s Predator. Bad Lands will star Elle Fanning, but plot details for the sequel have not yet been revealed.
As for Blade, Mahershala Ali was announced as the lead at Comic-Con 2019. Aside from a brief vocal cameo in The Eternals, Ali’s Blade has yet to appear in an actual film. The reboot film has faced numerous delays, with director Bassam Tariq and his replacement, Yann Demange, leaving the project earlier this year. Marvel was said to be offering a revised script to a new director this summer, but that doesn’t seem to have happened yet.
Aside from Ali, the only other member of the Blade cast still attached to the film is Mia Goth, star of the X trilogy, who is rumored to play the villain Lilith. For now, it’s unclear when cameras will roll on Blade, but Marvel has announced new release dates for unspecified upcoming films: February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028. It was planned as three parts.
