Diablo will turn 30 in 2026, but Blizzard is getting the Sanctuary celebrations started early.
To commemorate this legendary milestone, the developers of current Diablo titles have come together to reveal much of what’s next for the series in the Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight. This can be seen below.
In a completely unprecedented move, the developers have revealed that not only will they be introducing an entirely new class to the Diablo series, but this new class will also be coming to Diablo IV, Diablo II: Resurrect, and Diablo: Immortal.
DIABLO IV: King of Hatred
In the upcoming final chapter of the Age of Hatred Saga, players will journey to the new region of Skovos for a climactic showdown with Mephisto, as Prime Evil’s deceit and corruption threaten to sink Sanctuary into malevolence.
To aid Wanderers in this, Diablo IV will introduce a brand new Warlock class with the Lord of Hatred expansion, which launches on April 28, 2026.
Diablo IV’s Warlock is a demon-summoning caster class defined by fetters, chains, fire, and destructive power designed to channel the wrath of Hell against itself, sure to please fans of heavy metal and horror alike.
Blizzard says Diablo fans will be able to learn more about the new class in a developer update on Friday, March 6 at 9 a.m., and will share a link to watch it.
Diablo II: Resurrection
Diablo II: Resurrect, currently available on all platforms, has launched its first-ever unique paid DLC called Reign of the Warlock. Reign of the Warlock carves out a new class position within the Diablo canon by weaving the warlock’s origin story into the fabric of Diablo II, the most influential game in the series and generally considered one of the most beloved ARPGs of all time.
As if new classes weren’t enough, Reign of the Warlock also adds quality of life improvements to Diablo II: Resurrected, including an enhanced Terror Zone, new endgame content, and a loot filter.
Diablo: Immortal
Warlock is expected to appear in the series’ first mobile game, Diablo: Immortal, in mid-2026, but there is no official release date yet.
According to the developers, Immortal’s Warlock commands the demons by opening a portal to hell, summoning demonic weapons from the Hellforge, and channeling the power of the forbidden Vizjerei, buried beneath the Sanctuary long ago.
The immortal sorcerer holds a demon skull in his right hand and a sacrificial blade in his left, allowing him to spit, punch holes in reality, and summon tortured demons bound by a dominant force.
One such demon is the Soulgorger, a gigantic beast that gains power by consuming the souls of other demons and absorbing their properties.
It’s been a tough month for the entire Blizzard Universe. As the studio celebrated its 35th anniversary, fans were treated to a wave of major announcements and meaningful updates for Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and more.
The developers of each flagship series have made it clear that the celebrations don’t end here, with more planned for 2026 and beyond. If these recent Spotlight showcases are any indication, Blizzard’s next chapter is shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
