‘Deadlock’ Season 2 Trailer: Prime Video’s Australian Crime Comedy Goes Top End

Prime Video has released the official trailer for Deadlock season 2. This time, the murder mystery takes an even hotter turn. Watch the trailer above and read about what’s in store in the Top End.

From Tassie Noir to Top End Mayhem

Season 2 ditches the moody cold of Tasmania for the sweaty expanses of the Northern Territory. Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeline Sami) arrive in Darwin to investigate the death of Eddie’s former police partner, Bushy. The plan lasts about 5 minutes.

The pair are taken over by a new investigation when dismembered body parts are discovered in the remote community of Barra Creek. The investigation unfolds while local police are already busy searching for the two missing backpackers. Dulcie is doing her best, Eddie not so much.

Looking at the trailer, it’s clear that this isn’t just a change of scenery. It’s humid and chaotic, with a complex mix of crocodile-driven tourists, burnt-out rangers, suspicious locals, and a waterway inhabited by a “seven meter prehistoric predator.” And yes, that includes the all-encompassing thrush infection. As Dulcie and Eddie dig deeper into the case, the mystery expands beyond one John Doe into something that feels very Rose Creek.

Familiar faces, new suspects

Kate Box and Madeline Sami return along with Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner. Season 2 also adds Luke Hemsworth, Steve Bisley, Shari Sebens, Jean Tong, Genevieve Morris, Byron Cole, Nicky Britton, Anthony J. Sharpe, Blake Pavey, Damien Garvey, Gari Shaw, Bev Killic, Lynn Cooper-Tan, Ursula Jovich, Sid Brisbane, Ines English, Lennox Monaghan, and Raiden Corpus. Storm Muruga.

Behind the camera, creators Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan will once again write and executive produce, joined by Kevin White, Tanya Fegan and Ben Grogan. Produced by Andy Walker and directed by Beck Cole and Gracie Otto. The series is produced by Guesswork Television, OK Great Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios.

The global hit heats up the mood

The first season proved that Deadlock was more than just a local cult favorite. The film ranked in Prime Video’s Top 10 TV Shows in over 165 countries and territories, including the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, and won five AACTA Awards, including Best Performance by a Comedy for Kate Box and Best Original Screenplay for Television for McCartney and MacLennan. It was also nominated for an International Emmy Award.

“We can’t wait to share Season 2 of Deadlock with fans around the world on March 20th. Season 1 proved that authentic, bold storytelling can transcend borders and quickly become a significant success and cultural phenomenon in Australia and internationally,” said Amazon MGM Studios Head of Original Productions Australia and New Zealand Sarah Christie. “The success of Deadlock is a testament to the creative genius of Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, who have once again delivered a brilliant, funny and moving second season, this time transporting viewers to a completely unique world in the sweltering Top End.”

Creators, executive producers and screenwriters Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan said: “It’s time to get your cargo shorts and stubby holders ready, because Season 2 of Deadlock is about to be released worldwide on Prime Video. We know you’re going to be a little sticky, a little sweaty and maybe a little wet on the top end, but we can’t wait.”

release date

The six-episode second season of Deadlock will be available worldwide on Prime Video on March 20th. The first two episodes will premiere on the day of distribution, with new episodes added weekly until the final episode on April 17th.
