Paramount ANZ SVP Content and Programming Daniel Monaghan heads to the Foxtel Group where he replaces Wendy Moore as executive director of entertainment content.
Monaghan will start next February and will be responsible for the key content, strategy and channels for both Binge and Foxtel.
The executive has worked for both Network10 and Paramount ANZ since 2012, first joining the 10 as a programming associate. For Paramount+, he led local commissioned slates, including fake, inspirational unemployed, the unrealistic Joker, The Last King of Cross, Rock Island Mystery, and NCIS: Sydney.
Foxtel announced the appointment of Monaghan today via company email from Hilary Perchard, CEO of Kayo Sports, Binge and Foxtel.
“Dan’s appointment reflects his continued commitment to successful entertainment services. For nearly 20 years, he has been committed to shaping Network 10 and Paramount+ programming strategies, driving significant audience engagement and revenue growth across the business,” writes Perchard.
“At Foxtel Group, Dan continues to lead alongside the Entertainment Content team, setting premium and engaging programming benchmarks for award-winning Australian entertainment, drama and lifestyle content. The team continues to deliver compelling stories that capture audiences, Australian voices and share Australian stories with the world.”
Monaghan’s exit from Paramount comes amid speculation about the future, both locally and globally, following the merger of Skydance. According to a Variety report last month, 2,000-3,000 layoffs are expected across Paramount Global by November, with Skydance sought a cost savings of US$2 billion.
Moore’s resignation from Foxtel was announced in June.
