The first official trailer arrives for the Dangerous Animal, a news survival horror thriller of Australian filmmaker Seanburn (Love, Devil Candy). The film stars Jay Courtney as a sadistic murderer with a ritualistic obsession who gave people to sharks. Look up.
Director of the Year at Cannes ‘Scheduled to premiere in two weeks, the film marks Byrne’s long-awaited return in nearly a decade. This trailer introduces Zephyr (played by Hussy Harrison of Yellowstone). Yellowstone’s Hussy Harrison turns the world of the world when captured by Tucker, played by All-In Courtney.
Dangerous animals take advantage of the primitive fear of open water, isolated, and unhardened, horrifying humans. “You’re a fighter. I love fighter planes,” Tucker tells Zephyr in the trailer. “It’s going to be a better show.”
The film introduces Makos, Tiger Shark, Bull Shark and a grey nurse, and uses footage of real sharks throughout. “Whenever you go underwater, it’s a real shark,” Byrne told Bloody’s disgust. “We blend it with the actual footage and make sure the water matches with the grade. The only CG is Fin.” He also pointed out the scars and imperfections of sharks, saying he would like to nod to what nature really looks like, not the refined predator of most genre films.
Importantly, Byrne says the film isn’t a portrayal of the shark’s Jaws style as a Mindless Killer. “People are true monsters,” he pointed out, explaining that sharks only appear when the Tucker squeals.
Courtney’s performance as an undenied but disarmed charismatic Tucker looks set in one of the most intense things he’s ever had. Byrne said he wanted the character to have “Kathy Bates of Miserable Energy.” “In a way,” he said, “He sees himself as a shark.”
The cast includes Josh Houston, Ella Newton and James Mann, along with the scriptwriter of Nick Leppard. The film features Michael Yethersky’s music (Mr. Invetwion, Guillermo del Toro’s Curiosity Cabinet) and Shelley Farthing Doe’s cinematography (The Boy Swallows the Universe).
The dangerous animal will hit the cinema on June 6th and land at the Australian cinema on June 12th.
