Jensen Ackles is back in action games. This time, the stakes include a citywide catastrophe. Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for Countdown. Countdown is a new thriller for Chicago Fire and FBI executive producer Derek Haas. Explosions, chases, undercover agents, and axle can be all-around badass. The trailer above and the following information.
Ackles starred as LAPD detective Mark Meachum. Mark Meethym is a nonsense police officer drawn into a secret task force after extensive Homeland Security murders. The group, including characters played by Jessica Camacho, Uli Ratukef, Elliot Knight and Violet Bean, must uncover the mystery that spirals quickly into something much more dangerous.
Eric Dane, who plays the super-serious team leader Nathan Blythe, delivers interests early on.
Of course, things become a boom. Ackles dodges the firefight, crashes through the windows, jumps out of the vehicle, and becomes a bit flirtless. Ackles says Countdown is not a major leap for supernatural fans. “I’m sure there’s probably some familiarity from the fandom with this guy,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, I played Dean for 15 years and I loved playing such a character.
The countdown concept actually sparked years ago, but Haas was working on the Police Procedural Series Chicago PD. “I went to a technical advisor and he said, ‘Where can she go?’ And he said, ‘Well, do you want her back?’ “Yeah, and I want it to be heroic.’ He’s like, ‘She has to join the task force.’ ”
Countdown premieres on Prime Video on June 25th and launches with a 3-episode drop every Wednesday before moving to every week’s episode. The season finale will land on September 3rd.
