As promised, the well-received roguelike Caves of Qud is coming to Early Access this year. Freehold Games and Kitfox Games have confirmed the release date for version 1.0 of this title. After 15 years of development and nearly 10 years of early access, early access ends on December 5th.

As usual, moving to version 1.0 is more than just a number change and an official exit from early access. Caves of Qud includes a final story quest, multiple endings, and a new tutorial currently being tested as part of the game’s beta. The improved tutorial is designed to help you better understand the basics of gameplay. The latest patch also introduces several improvements, including the Caves of Qud settings menu interface.
Additionally, Freehold Games has put together a small sale where you can purchase the game for a few dollars less until October 29th. Additionally, this offer includes a special edition of the game with DLC that includes new soundtracks and companions not previously available. The action in Caves of Qud takes place in a post-apocalyptic science fantasy world filled with salt deserts, including a detailed simulated political system. At the beginning of each session, tasks, historical events, and relationships between five random ancient rulers known as Sultans are generated. A key element of the game is an advanced character creator, and a turn-based system is used for combat and exploration.
Of course, Caves of Qud was a minor hit, but the creators can’t complain about the reception of their work. Even in early access, around 8,000 reviews have been collected, 95% of which are positive. Let’s hope that the debut of version 1.0 and further development of the game (already confirmed by the creators) will attract even more players.
I wrote a thesis specifically on this topic and graduated with a master’s degree in Polish studies from the University of Warsaw. I started my adventure with GRYOnline.pl in 2015, writing for the newsroom and later also for the film and technology section (I also contributed to the encyclopedia). I’ve been interested in video games (and not just video games) for many years. He started with platform games and remains a huge fan of them (including Metroidvania) to this day. I’m also interested in card games (including paper), fighting games, Soulslike, and basically anything related to games themselves. I’m amazed at the pixelated characters in games that date back to the Game Boy era (if not older).
