Bully, or Canis Canem Edit as it was known in Europe, is one of those games that manages to stay in the headlines despite Rockstar Games refusing to develop a sequel.
Usually this is caused by something relatively unsubstantiated. Fans of the 2006 title are probably tired of hearing all the “rumours” surrounding Brie at this point. That’s understandable considering there’s been literally no rumors for the past 18 years.
But today…I don’t know, dude. I don’t want to give you any more misguided bullying-related copium, but there may actually be some good, real news.
Special thanks to Ed Smith of PCGamesN who originally covered this article.
As discovered by Twitter user @TezFunz2, Rockstar Games is just getting their hands on the Steam version of Bully for the “first time in 10 years.”
The most likely explanation for this is (of course) that it has something to do with Grand Theft Auto.
The GTA+ subscription service primarily gives you access to a number of exclusive Grand Theft Auto 5 benefits, but it also comes with one additional big bonus.
If you have an active GTA+ subscription, you’ll also have access to other Rockstar titles such as Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, and Bully at no additional cost.
As it turns out, this subscription service isn’t actually available on PC. For example, you can’t claim those titles on Steam even if you paid for them on a PlayStation console.
But there’s been a lot of talk lately about GTA+ finally coming to PC, which is why it’s thought that the Bully update on Steam might have something to do with it (though the game’s PC port has obviously been a bit rough) state).
Makes sense. If you want people to pay for a subscription service, you need to make sure the free games you get from it actually work.
This could also be part of the reason why Rockstar Games finally decided to fix Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition with a recent patch. Perhaps it has something to do with the eventual porting of Red Dead Redemption to PC.
Of course, we won’t really know what Rockstar is doing until this Bully update actually goes live.
Maybe some bug fixes. Graphics upgrades may occur. Either way, keep an eye out for more bullying-related headlines in the near future, because there’s bound to be something.
