Brandon Skrenner has been cast opposite Sidney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in Lionsgate’s psychological thriller The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig.
Skrener recently starred opposite Blake Lively in the romantic drama It Ends With Us, which grossed $348.2 million worldwide.
Lionsgate is backing the project, which stars Sweeney as a struggling young woman who finds relief in getting a new start as a housekeeper for an upscale, wealthy couple, Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklener). Play Millie. But Milly soon learns a family secret far more dangerous than her own past.
The film picture is based on Rebecca Sonnenschein’s screenplay, which is an adaptation of Frieda McFadden’s novel, which has sold over 3.6 million copies.
Feig’s latest directorial project is Amazon’s action comedy “Jackpot!,” which was released in August, and his follow-up feature “A Simple Favor 2,” starring Lively and Anna Kendrick, is being directed by Amazon and Lionsgate. It is scheduled to be released next spring.
Skrenner is set to star in Christopher Landon’s The Drop for Blumhouse/Universal, and his breakout role as Spencer Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923 is currently in production on Season 2 for Paramount+.
Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman will produce The Housemaid. Carli Kleinbert Oelter will direct the project for Hidden Pictures. Feig and Laura Fischer of Feigco are also producing. Sweeney and Seyfried will serve as executive producers along with Alex Young and McFadden.
Chelsea Kujawa and Erin Jones-Wesley are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Sklenar is repped by WME, Neon Kite, and Goodman Genow.
