The big screen debut of the world’s popular blue healer puppy is scheduled for August 5th, 2027 in Australia.
Walt Disney Studio, in partnership with Ludo Studio and BBC Studios, has announced the local release date for Bluey: The Movie Today. Australia will get a movie one day ahead of the world and go out on August 6th.
News on the film’s dates are alongside the announcement that the Blue video game will be launched on console Nex Playground in October.
Bluey: The film is currently in production in Brisbane at Ludo Studio, and Cosmic Dino offers an end-to-end CG animation service.
The film is written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and is produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios. Amber Naismith is a producer and Richard Jeffery is a co-director. BRUMM is an executive producer along with Justine Flynn from BBC Studios and Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio. In the case of Disney, the film is directed by David Greenbaum, the president of Disney’s live action and 20th century studio president, and his team.
Voice talents Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack return to Mom (Chile) and Dad (Bandit).
When the film was first announced, Blum said in a statement: “I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
BBC Studios funds and licenses photos, while Disney handles theatrical streams. The film is supported via producer offset and screen Australia along with Screen Queensland’s PDV incentive.
