Tyler Perry is ending 2024 on a strong note with his all-new scripted series, Beauty in Black. The first eight episodes of the series premiered in October 2024 and have received solid viewership. It has already been confirmed that more episodes are coming, but a full season renewal order has not yet been placed.
So, has Beauty in Black been renewed? Technically not, but there’s more going on. Like some of Netflix’s multi-cam sitcoms and animated series, Netflix has placed a hefty 16-episode pre-order for Beauty in Black, and the original plan was to break it into two separate seasons or parts. It was planned to be split. The two were photographed together at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia from March to April 2024. Our understanding is that these episodes are in post-production and are already scheduled to drop next year.
Perry has already teased the next episode, telling Netflix: That will be shocking to people. It’s like, “Wait a minute, how does she come to power?”
Of course, there’s a lot to learn after Season 1’s cliffhanger. Bodhi kidnapped Kimmy’s sister, but Kimmy stopped getting on with her life. Having taken control, she crashes the car into a body in the gritty chaos of a motel parking lot, becoming trapped between two bumpers. Other remaining questions and storylines include whether Lena will blow the whistle on Mallory’s company, whether Lane will recover from complications from her surgery, and whether Sylvia will be saved in the end.
When exactly will the next batch of episodes drop? No official release date has been announced, but beyond a rough 2025 release, many reports point to an early 2025 or spring release. suggests. Our understanding is that Netflix is currently considering Thursday, March 13, 2025, as the release date for the second batch of eight episodes. We will keep you informed.

Tyler Perry continues to work on a number of projects with Netflix (he also has projects at BET and Prime Video). The Six Triple Eight is his next major project (and perhaps the biggest of Perry’s recent work) and is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in December. Additionally, he is producing a new faith-based film called R&B, Straw, and is looking forward to a new Madea film in 2025.
