It Ends With Us season is almost here for all of us celebrating (!!!). Colleen Hoover’s somewhat controversial but wildly popular novel has been adapted into a movie starring Blake Lively, finally hitting theaters this month. If you’re looking for the exact release date for It Ends With Us in Australia, or just want to know why fans of the book are upset about the casting, you’ve come to the right place.
It Ends With Us (book version) was released in 2019, but it didn’t catch on right away. A few years later, thanks to BookTok, the novel became extremely popular and became the best-selling paper book in 2022. The novel was considered for film adaptation in 2019 by Justin Baldoni (of Jane the Virgin fame) and Wayfarer, with consulting from Colleen Hoover. .
This romance novel is controversial for many reasons. It’s a depiction of an abusive relationship and Hoover’s own bizarre decision to base a coloring book on it. No matter what corner of BookTok you are in, everyone has an opinion about it. So perhaps it’s no surprise that it’s been so successful.

Will it end with us?
It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom, a 23-year-old college graduate who moves to Boston for a fresh start after the tragic funeral of her abusive father.
Lily opens her “other flower shop” in a new town, and the town somehow becomes prosperous. We’re talking about a purple and black rose wearing musty steampunk boots with gears (lol), so 2010.

In Boston, Lily also meets Lyle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni), a talented, wealthy, and extremely hot neurosurgeon who is seven years her senior. After sexual tension builds, the two begin a relationship.
However, things become complicated when Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan, also shows up in Boston, resurfacing his conflicted feelings for Lily and straining their already unstable new relationship.
I won’t reveal the rest, but this novel has some pretty heavy themes. Domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, to name a few. That’s part of the reason this novel is so controversial. Some have criticized Colleen Huber’s treatment of these themes, accusing her of glorifying abuse. However, some like that she portrays abusers as flawed people rather than monsters. For them, it’s more realistic.
Either way, it’s a large amount. So please be careful what you read or watch from now on.
Who is in the cast of It Ends With Us?
Gossip Girl queen Blake Lively has been cast as Lily Bloom in the movie “It Ends with Us.”
“Our Lily will be played by Blake Lively. Blake Lively, everyone. She is the Lily of my dreams,” Colleen Hoover said in a January 2023 announcement.
Lyle Kincaid will be played by Justin Baldoni, and Atlas Corrigan will be played by Brandon Skrenner. Jenny Slater plays Lyle’s sister Alisa.
In flashbacks, Isabella Ferrer plays a young Lily and Alex Neustaedter plays a young Atlas.

This casting has raised eyebrows among some fans who feel everyone is too old for the characters. Lively, in particular, is facing backlash even though she’s 36 years old, while Lily is supposed to be 23. Lyle is supposed to be around 29 years old, but Bordoni is 39 years old, and Atlas is supposed to be around 26 years old, but Skrenner is 30 years old.
However, Colleen Hoover addressed the issue and said that she decided to age up the characters in the film.
“I had no idea that neurosurgeons had been in school for 50 years,” she says.
“There are no brain surgeons in their 20s.
“When I started making this movie, I thought, ‘I screwed up and I have to let it age.’ So it’s my fault.”
Is there a trailer for “It Ends With Us”?
There certainly is! The long-awaited trailer for the movie, which features a song by Blake Lively’s best friend Taylor Swift, has been released.

Do Colleen Hooper and Blake Lively approve of a sequel to Harlem?
Six years after the first book, Colleen Hooper published the sequel to It Ends With Us, It Starts With Us. And considering the first book was treated to the big screen, fans want to know if Blake Lively already has plans to make a sequel.
However, a sequel has not yet been confirmed as the first film has not been released and the studio is unable to handle low numbers.
When is ‘It Ends With Us’ released in Australia?
It Ends With Us is scheduled to be released on August 9, 2024, according to PEOPLE.
In fact, the original release date was February 9th, but it was later pushed back to June 21st. So it’s been postponed twice now.
