Much has been revealed so far about the Nintendo Switch 2, but a few questions remain, including the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade pack, especially the cost in Australia.
Upgrade packs are essentially digital upgrades that can be purchased individually (digital) or bundled (physical or digital) on your selected Nintendo Switch title, and upgrade your game to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
So far, Nintendo has revealed two upgrade packs. The cheaper first brings resolution and frame rate updates along with mouse control support and HDR support. The second type brings all these improvements to the game, but also adds additional content.
Essentially, future upgrades appear to fall into these two types. Nintendo has updated its online store with related pricing.
The first tier, which adds minor features with improved visual fidelity, will upgrade both the kingdom’s wild breath and tears for just $20.
For the second tier that adds additional content, the upgrade pack costs $30. These upgrades also come with graphical improvements detailed in the first layer.
The games included in the second tier of upgrade pricing are:
Kirby and The Forgotten Land star-crossed world story expansion Super Mario Party Jamboree adds an expansion to TV Jamboree.
If you don’t already own these games on the original Switch, you can buy them as a Nintendo Switch 2 edition for $109.95. This means that if you already own the game, it’s much better to buy an upgrade pack.
There is still no visibility as to how much an upgrade pack will cost for games that have not yet been released, such as Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon ZA, but that information will definitely get you closer to a release.
