Following yesterday’s announcement that Halo Infinite will be adding a third-person mode, the future of the series has been revealed in a seven-minute video that gives us our first look at what’s to come.
The big announcement is that 343 Studios will be discontinued and rebranded to Halo Studios as the company looks to hire its next talent for the franchise.
It was also confirmed that the game is leaving Slipspace Engine and all future projects will be developed in Unreal Engine 5. We were able to watch a 7-minute video containing a ton of technical demos, the result of Project Foundry, a project designed to: Here’s what a Halo game could look like using Unreal Engine 5.
You can see Master Chief in all his glory and some of the game’s iconic locations looking better than ever.
This change comes after it was well documented that 343 Studios had issues with the Slipspace engine throughout Halo Infinite’s development, and this will no doubt lead to a less problematic development as far as the engine is concerned.
The team is currently just starting to hire for the next Halo project, so expect this to take a while to develop into something meaningful, but it’s still a sign that Microsoft is committed to a major franchise. It’s great to see there.
