Screen Queensland’s flagship industry forum, In the Frame Far North Queensland, will return to Screen Queensland Studios in Cairns in March, giving regional film stakeholders access to decision-makers in film, television and digital storytelling.
Following the sold-out event in 2025, the 2026 program will consist of five panel sessions aimed at exploring current commissioning priorities, turning ideas into commercially viable projects, what decision makers are actively looking for, and strategies for writing local stories. Attendees will also have the opportunity to book one-on-one meetings with industry leaders, giving them direct access to the people greenlighting, funding, and creating content.
Speakers included Stan Head of Scripts Andy Ryan, Fremantle Head of Drama and Production Brett Popplewell, Flying Bark Productions producer Coco Garner-Davies, screenwriter Chris Markusa and No Coincidence Mede. They include Mitch Stanley, producer of Apocalypso, Lucas Taylor, writer and director, Sofia Mogford, head of scripted content and comedy for Paramount+, Apocalypso CEO Jason Behan, and numerous producers, development executives and writers.
Arts Minister John-Paul Langbroek said the forum demonstrated the government’s commitment to strengthening Queensland’s regional film industry.
“Through initiatives like In the Frame Far North Queensland, we are helping to build sustainable career paths and creating new opportunities for local practitioners across the state to develop and share their stories,” he said.
Screen Queensland CEO Jackie Feeney said the success of In the Frame in Far North Queensland reflected the growth of the region’s screen sector.
“Returning to Cairns will give local creators direct access to industry experts, practical insights and meaningful connections, while spotlighting the important role Far North Queensland plays in telling Australia’s stories and building on our momentum in the region,” she said.
Tickets are $35 (in addition to reservation fees) and include lunch and networking refreshments, with up to $1,500 in market and travel grants available to eligible regional attendees. This program is selling fast.
