FX has released an official trailer that is always sunny for Philadelphia season 17. As always, the long-term sitcom continues to skewered social norms with a complete disregard for decency, giving fans much of the filterless emissions that have defined the series since its 2005 debut. Look up.
Among the highlights of the season is a crossover with Emmy-winning Comedy Bot Elementary School, picked up from previous episodes that aired as part of Abbott’s own run. In that installment, we saw the crew of a pub in Paddy performing court-ordered community services at the prestigious school. In Season 17, the tables change and the teacher makes a field trip to the sunny territory.
Abbott creator and star Quinta Brunson previously detailed the collaboration in an interview with Hollywood Reporter, explaining how a tweet from Rob McElhenney sparked the idea. “We are both under Disney’s umbrella, and we can do this,” she said. “They represent part of South Philly and we represent a very realistic part of West Philadelli… Charlie (Sun) and Rob came to our room with us one day. She added: “Rob and Charlie and they’re like me. We like comedy and want to do something exciting with comedy. It’s just magic.”
But that’s far from the only madness of Season 17. The trailer also previews Danny DeVito’s Frank Reynolds into the Golden Bachelor Universe. You can get a glimpse of Devito trying to find love in the most sunny ways you can imagine. Let’s say that the rose ritual is never the same.
Meanwhile, fan chatty shipwreck David Hornsby returns as cricket – worsening wear than ever – and the infamous lawyer is rumoured to appear again, promising more callbacks to the show’s twisted myth. And expect shameless plans, morally bankrupt business ventures, and a bunch of Paddy pub nonsense, as in true sunny ways, gangs keep chasing wealth, attention, and full verification.
