As the year comes to a close, we’re bringing you the latest on every Netflix show canceled so far in 2024. This list includes all programs that have been shortened and, unlike most broadcasters, does not include programs that are ending. In line with the upcoming season.

As a summary, here are some of the shows that were announced as canceled last year.

After launching on YouTube more than a decade ago, Netflix has ordered a full season of the children’s series for release in early 2024. However, in a podcast episode of The Kids Media Club Podcast, it was confirmed that the series would no longer be aired again. There were no additional episodes, and the show’s executive producer said on the podcast that they were “not being updated.”

Scott Pilgrim leaves Netflix
This is a bit of an asterisk, considering the team designed the animated spinoff of Edgar Wright’s comic book and 2010 film to be only a single season. The fact remains that there will be no future episodes. This isn’t a huge surprise, considering the show failed to make much of a splash in Netflix’s top 10 in 2023, when the eight-episode series debuted.

It has been announced that the father-son comedy series starring Rob Lowe will be canceled in October 2024, shortly after season two. It’s not all that surprising considering neither season has had big viewership numbers, but it continues a long trend of Netflix struggling to get comedy right.

Despite receiving very good reviews from critics and viewers alike, KAOS struggled to break into Netflix’s top 10 in performance tracking alongside several other shows on this list. I quickly found myself in the danger zone. This, combined with the years in the making, large cast, and sizeable budget, made it a prime candidate for cancellation.

What happens when interseason ratings drop by 83% and the planned third season release date is moved up in a panic? You’re on the chopping block. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened with That ’90s Show, which was announced by cast members to be ending in early October 2024. I have plans to buy elsewhere, but multi-cam sitcoms are a tough nut to crack.

Daniel Duggars’ anticipated British equivalent of Selling Sunset ultimately flopped, and despite early development work for a second season, the final Deadline has confirmed that the project will end in September 2024.

Following in the footsteps of many young adult fantasy shows that were canceled after just one season (Half Bad, Lockwood & Co., First Kill), Netflix’s The Sandman (thankfully renewed ) has been adapted into a spin-off show. It started as a comic book, pulled production away from HBO Max, and then landed on Netflix.
Sadly, ratings weren’t high enough to justify a second season, even though a second season was scheduled for production. In August, Variety magazine confirmed that the show had ended for good.

In the wake of Selling Sunset, Netflix began a major commissioning effort to expand its real estate reality series to different markets and audiences. The series lasted two seasons, but it was announced that it would be canceled in mid-August 2024.

One of the big animated series that the Netflix division has produced in recent years is the fantastic sci-fi adventure series. Still, we first learned over the summer that it wouldn’t be returning for a third season after the initial order.
Showrunner Everett Downing Jr. said in June, “We feel incredibly lucky to be working with such an amazing team of partners and artists.” Everyone who worked on this show fell in love with Terry, Tess, Lisa, Sean, and the entire cast of quirky, wild, and crazy characters. Maybe someday I’ll be able to visit this world again. For now, these characters and stories will live on in my heart for the rest of my life. ”

We will start paying attention to this from the offset. These aren’t cancellations in the traditional sense, but more confirmation that these shows were planned or are now considered a one-and-done, even if the story has the potential for more in the future. The announcement was made through the Engagement Report and the labels for these titles have changed.

Although there has been some progress regarding the new season of Everything Now, interviews with the cast have revealed that the British series starring Sophie Wilde will not be returning for a future series.

It took a long time, but in late March 2024 we heard that the German series “Barbarians” will end its run and there are no plans to return for a third season.

Along with “Erin & Aaron,” “That Girls Ray Ray” was one of Nickelodeon’s two major live-action children’s shows that Netflix was interested in. The title was distributed worldwide and was distributed as a Netflix Original title everywhere outside of the United States.
However, similar to Erin & Aaron, writing for this title did not begin with extensive second season filming resuming in late 2023, with cast members announcing in March 2024 that the show would not return for a third season. admitted. .

The ambitious new action series debuted in early 2024, but ended up being one of the first big casualties of the 2024 slate, being canceled about a month after its debut.
Why was Brother’s Son canceled so quickly? Ratings were the reason, but Michelle Yeoh did not participate in the discussion regarding her performance. As we’ve documented, season 1 had a pretty lackluster debut, with viewership declining quickly despite an increase in hours watched in the second week.

Netflix released the Ryan Murphy-produced series Ratched for two seasons, and the first season ended in 2020, creating a buzz. Despite this, Sarah Paulson confirmed that the show will not return in early February 2024.
This also suggests that The Politician, which had a second season on Netflix, has been quietly canceled and will not return for a third season.

This cancellation falls more on Nickelodeon’s shoulders than Netflix’s, but the streamer is acting as the title’s international distributor, so we’re going to include it.
Nickelodeon’s short-lived musical live-action kids series is part of a shrinking library of titles as many distributors pull away from the genre. In early February, the show’s male star, Jensen Goering, confirmed in a heartfelt message that the title would not be revived.

Arguably the biggest cancellation of 2024 so far is Obliterated. This show could have easily been passed off as a limited series, but that’s not the case here, with more series on the way. However, due to relatively low viewer ratings, the show was canceled on February 1st.
Shows found to have been canceled from previous years
In addition to the shows mentioned above, we also found information about other old Netflix shows that were quietly canceled behind the scenes.
These cancellations include:
Black Summer – The Asylum’s amazing zombie drama series appears to have been quietly canceled and will not be coming back for a third season, with one of the show’s insiders telling fans it won’t be coming back. Connected – The science documentary series will not be returning for a second season, as the show’s hosts have confirmed multiple times over the past year. Oddballs – Like many Netflix original animated series, Oddballs had an advance directive and the episode count was met, so the show will not be returning. One of the show’s officials announced the cancellation on a livestream last year. Tribes of Europa – Another show that has been canceled via its creators on Twitter is the German sci-fi series Tribes of Europa, which will not be returning for a second season. Gymnastics Academy: A Second Chance – This children’s series was not given a further episode order, but the IP lives on thanks to the books. Dogs in Space – This preschool animated series learned in 2024 will not return with additional episodes.
