Commissioning and Content, Foxtel Group Executive Director Alison Hurbert-Burns is set to leave the company in more than six years.
In a LinkedIn post, the executive filed for resignation late last year and said he shared the news with his team this morning.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work in Australia and in the global television industry,” she writes.
“It consists of some of my favorite people, great hearts and some of my great colleagues.
“We tell stories that have lasting impact, create art and become part of our audience lives.
“The news about the next one will be in time, but for now I would like to thank the team I worked with at Binge and Foxtel.
Hurbert-Burns has been responsible for the fuss of Australia’s streaming platform since its 2020 release, overseeing the original strategy and growth.
She has since been executive producer of script series Love Me, Strife, High Country, The Twelve, Twellve, Film How To Gravy, and upcoming Australia-Ireland co-produced mixtapes.
Before Foxtel, Hurbert-Burns worked for Nine (stopping Stan and 9Now), and also had a stint in London with AFL, Melbourne and Time Warner’s News Division.
Her departure follows the departure of Amanda Laing, Chief Commercial and Content Officer of Foxtel Group and Managing Director of Binge. AmandaLaing left the company in September and is nine in the newly created streaming and broadcasting management director role.
Last year, sports entertainment platform Dazn reached a deal to acquire Foxtel Group from the majority shareholder News Corp, with minority shareholder Telstra signing a contract at a corporate value of US$2.2 billion. The acquisition is expected to close later in fiscal year 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
More coming.
