The man is co-creator of Alexandra Burke and Easy Tiger Development Producer Lizzie Cater will hone his craft throughout workshops in Belgium, Spain and Italy after being selected for the Turin Film Love (TFL) series Love.
The collaboration with Burke with Tulip-era Turkish writer Ali Elsievan was one of nine projects selected from 91 applications for the initiative, and Kater was one of three international screenwriters selected to join the session with Benjamin Kantu and Tiny Mungwe.
Defying the unravelled drama chaos of the Turkish era, the Tulip era follows two fallen stars on Australian reality television, following the second act in fame, fortune, and most unlikely places.
Working under her newly launched midnight production and distribution banner, Burke will attend housing workshops in Madrid, Madrid and Turin from June to November, working with program curator Iron Latzkovsky and a team of international tutors.
With credits such as the feature film “The Greenhouse” and the short film Birdie, Cater will take part in project development sessions and will work as part of the story editing component under the guidance of French producer, writer and director Anne Feinsilber.
The programme will peak with the TFL Meeting Event, a joint production market in which projects are pitched to top industry experts and compete for the SeriesLab Development Award.
This year’s conference event will also mark the first collaboration between TFL and the European Writers Club’s Bridging Generation Program. It brings together writers and broadcasters from all over Europe, including TV2 (Denmark), ZDF (Germany), SVT (Sweden), and NRK (Norway).
In a statement, TFL research director Eszter Angyolosy said the initiative was “not here because of ideas that only live on paper.”
“In Series Love, we are looking for creators with strong, personal visions and motivation to create those stories,” she said.
