The Lake House, the upcoming second expansion for Alan Wake 2, will introduce new monsters, new playable characters, and new weapons, according to a glimpse in today’s Xbox Partner Preview trailer. However, in a sense, we are also looking back at the past while looking ahead to future Remedy projects. The Lake House is closely tied to Remedy’s 2019 game Control and its sequel, which will be released in the future.
A new trailer sees players taking on the role of Agent Estevez, a Federal Bureau of Management agent who was featured heavily in Alan Wake 2’s storyline, but only now is she playable for the first time. Her story centers around the base game’s mysterious, closed-off lake house. It is said to have been a place of turmoil due to events that cannot be seen in the story of Alan Wake 2…until now.
But perhaps the most interesting thing here is how Dylan Faden, the younger brother of Control protagonist Jesse Faden, is hinted at. Is Dylan in the lake house? Is he astral projecting there or is he projecting into Estevez’s mind? It’s clear that Remedy is willing to get really weird with expansions.
Eager Remedy Connected Universe geeks (no disrespect) can play The Lake House next week when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on October 22nd. This is included in or available for purchase in the deluxe edition of the game. Edition upgrade for those who already own the base game but want to play the expansion.
