Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Screen and Media Diploma Alumni are eligible for direct admission to the second year of AFTRS Arts Degree: Production.

Successful applicants will acquire advanced status for previous learning and offer opportunities for a streamlined transition into higher education and screen and broadcasting industries. Initial intakes under the new arrangement will begin in 2026 terminology.

The partnership follows a successful route agreement between AFTRS and TAFE NSW over the past two years, further expanding the school’s national scope. CIT is the largest provider of ACT’s vocational education and training, offering over 250 accredited courses to local, national and international students.

AFTRS Bachelor of Arts: Production was developed to meet the needs of employers across the sector. We trained skilled graduates to work in a variety of entry-level roles and platforms. CIT Screen and Media Diplomas equip students with practical skills in screen and media production.

Mathieu Ravier, Director of Partnership and Development at AFTRS, said the route reflects the school’s commitment to “fostering talent across Australia and building an inclusive and accessible route in the screen industry for the next generation of creative professionals.”

“We are excited to partner with CIT to open new opportunities for talented students to the conduct and surrounding area,” he said.

Mark Webber’s department heads of Graphics, Entertainment, Music and Media said he is proud to be recognized through the Institute’s screen diploma and new pathways.

“This partnership gives them the opportunity to take that experience further, opening the door to higher research and careers across film, television and digital media,” he said.
