The official teaser trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 has arrived, and let fans see Adam Sandler’s long-awaited return as everyone’s favorite unorthodox golfer. There is also a release date! The sequel to Sandler’s beloved comedy Happy Gilmore is scheduled to swing towards Netflix on July 25th. Look up.
The teaser suggests Happy Gilmore has become mellow. At least he’s trying. “I think I need to update my happy place to something a little more… age-appropriate,” says Sandler’s Gilmore, closing his eyes in a Zen attempt. Yes, it teaches us that this peaceful stage doesn’t last long.
Julie Bowen returns as Virginia and stands by Happy once again. “We’re not finished golf,” she tells him. “I can see the happiness I fell in love.” Let’s take a look at how long it takes before Happy launches his golf club on the lake.
The cast will reunite many familiar faces from the original with Christopher McDonald as shooter McGavin and Ben Stiller as Hal L, bringing new additions such as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio (aka Bud Bunny), Scott Mesci, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdy and Nick Swaldson. NFL star Travis Kelce and professional wrestlers Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Ethan Cutowsky are also together for the ride, as are Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler.
With an interesting nod to the film’s golf legacy, several real-world professionals joined us in the lookout. Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson Dechambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Will Zalatoris, Paige Spiranac and John Daly are all set to appear.
Behind the scenes, there are also familiar teams. The original co-author Tim Helihee is back, and is produced by Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan as executive producer and longtime Sandler collaborators Jack Gallapt and Robert Simmons. Director Kyle Newacheck, who previously directed Sandler in Netflix’s comedy murder mystery, is at the helm.
Mark on that date: Happy Gilmore 2 will hit Netflix on July 25th.
