Overnight, 2K Sports released a ton of new information about the upcoming WWE 2K26, while also revealing CM Punk as the cover athlete for the Standard Edition, set to be released on March 13th on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
This release is the first “next-gen” release after the previous generation, and comes with a ton of new modes, features, and the series’ largest lineup to date.
WWE 2K26 draws in superstars and countless legends from the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT brands to create a roster of over 400 playable stars, including popular Scottish sensation Joe Hendry, available as a pre-order bonus.
This year’s showcase is expected to feature the career of CM Punk, who spent two stints with the company. As is often the case, this mode, called Punked, covers the storied highlights of Punk’s career while also playing some fantasy booker and showing us some “what if?” A scenario where there were no punctures left.
One of the game’s four editions focuses on the Attitude Era, and the game’s four new modes talk about this bygone era of extremes. Players will be able to use new weapons such as thumbtacks and stackable tables within match types such as “I Quit,” “Inferno,” “Three Stages of Hell,” and “Dumpster.”
Perhaps the most surprising change is that WWE 2K26 opts for a Battle Pass model to provide additional content, doing away with the previously sporadically released DLC packs that brought new Superstars to the game. Of course, there are free and premium tiers that offer different rewards. However, the XP for the pass can be earned in all modes of the game.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of WWE 2K26 offers unique features that take advantage of hardware touchscreen and mouse support, GameShare and GameChat, single Joy-Con gameplay support, and the ability to use mouse controls in the game’s creation suite.
For more information on other new features and changes to the game, 2K’s press release is full of great information.
