Captain Michelle McKee and AFP liaison Jim ‘JD’ Dempsey will be back in port with the trans-Pacific team as NCIS: Sydney has been renewed for a fourth season.
The Australian spinoff of the popular series was one of 10 primetime series that CBS picked up on its 2026/27 schedule, along with NCIS and NCIS: Origins, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Paramount+, where the series is streamed in Australia, has since confirmed that the series will continue.
Season 3, which first aired on October 14 of last year, comes as the series prepares to resume next month after a mid-season hiatus.
In the eight episodes that have aired so far, the investigators face new challenges from within, such as young forensic scientist Bluebird “Blue” Gleason (Maverney Hazell) being cornered by her so-called “family” and DeSean Jackson (Sean Sager) being forced to admit in a court martial that he suppressed important evidence to protect those closest to him.
Todd Lasance, Olivia Swann, Tuli Narkle, Sean Sager and William McInnes also return for the new episodes, which were filmed in locations such as Broken Hill and Bilpin in the Blue Mountains region. The series was in CBS’ autumn lineup and aired alongside NCIS and NCIS: Origins, so production on the third series overlapped with the episode’s broadcast.
The series is created by Morgan O’Neill, who served as executive producer on Season 3 along with Endemol Shine Australia’s Sarah Richardson, Sue Shealy and Louisa Kors, and Carmen J. Leonard, who also produces alongside Naomi Mulholland.
NCIS: Sydney was commissioned by Paramount ANZ more than three years ago and is the first installment in the series to be based outside the United States.
