If you were feeling like KPop Demon Hunters were all over the place in late 2025, Netflix’s numbers basically confirm that, and then some.
The animated phenomenon has racked up a staggering 482 million views between July and December, putting it miles ahead of the rest, with titles like Happy Gilmore 2 (135 million), Wednesday Season 2 (124 million) and Stranger Things Season 5 (94 million) also firmly in blockbuster territory.
These stats come from Netflix’s latest Engagement Report, which analyzes what members watched from July to December 2025. The report measures engagement by views (total viewing time divided by runtime) and aggregates all viewing in the second half of this year, representing 96 billion hours of viewing time on Netflix.
It’s not just about winning one title. it circled the field
The biggest headline was “KPop Demon Hunters,” which Netflix said had been viewed 482 million times, making it the most-watched title in six months. This is not a “blockbuster” number. The question is, “What on earth happened here?” number. The aftershocks were felt beyond the movie itself, with Netflix noting that the KPop Demon Hunters lyric video had an additional 32 million views. In other words, it wasn’t just watching. It was played, shared and treated like an event.
Wednesday and Stranger Things kept Netflix’s series crown in familiar hands
In the TV category, the biggest names returning to Netflix remained comfortably at the top. Season 2 on Wednesday was watched 124 million times, making it the most-watched show of the period, closely followed by Stranger Things season 5 with 94 million.
Particularly notable is the ripple effect that Netflix has highlighted. All five seasons of Stranger Things ranked among the top 15 most-watched shows in six months, with a combined 275 million views. It’s the kind of catalog rising streamers dream of. A new season doesn’t just arrive. It brings the entire back library back into the spotlight.
Non-English hits were not “niche.” Those were huge amounts of viewing.

Netflix also emphasized how international viewing the platform is. Non-English titles accounted for more than a third of all viewing during this period, with Korean, Spanish, and Japanese series and films making recurring major appearances.
South Korea in particular boasts another strong team, with Squid Game Season 3 ranking as the fourth most-watched show overall (79 million views). Movies such as The Great Flood (66 million views) also made it into the top 10 movies. Elsewhere, Netflix picked up popular titles from Japan, Indonesia, India, Scandinavia, Spain, France, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. This is a reminder that the service’s biggest trends rarely stay in one language for long.
Genre variety is what Netflix does best. A little bit of everything, everywhere
Beyond Tentpole, Netflix pointed to the breadth of genres that helped push the second half of 2025. It’s the blockbuster comedies (including “Happy Gilmore 2,” which has racked up 135 million views), book-turned-movies like Frankenstein (98 million) and My Oxford Year (86 million), and the dramas and documentaries that have steadily drawn in viewers.
Netflix also noted that while anime accounted for more than 4% of all viewing during this period, children and family viewing remained a large portion. The hottest adult titles are important, but household essentials quietly consume a huge amount of time.
