Emily in Paris fans, rest assured. Netflix has renewed the glossy romantic comedy for a sixth season, keeping Lily Collins’ eternally optimistic marketing executive in Europe as the series continues to ride high viewership, social buzz, and binge-friendly momentum around the world.
The renewal came shortly after the release of Season 5, with the show expanding beyond Paris and focusing more on changing relationships, professional restructuring, and Emily’s ongoing tug of war between ambition and romance.
Netflix saw a video on social media showing Collins blowing out a candle on top of a croissant, with Paris in the background, and then sitting on the croissant and blowing out the flame.
Series creator Darren Star has hinted that future seasons may continue to take place in new locations without abandoning the show’s core identity. “There are a lot of places I’d like to visit, but I think the show[follows]the storyline organically,” Starr said at a press conference in December.
“This show is Emily in Paris. We’re never leaving our home base forever. But if we can take the audience on a journey somewhere else, that’s nice… It’s fun to think about.”
Momentum continues with the success of Season 5
Season 5 was a huge win for Netflix. The 10-episode show garnered 26.8 million views worldwide in its first 11 days, reaching No. 1 on television charts in 24 countries and reaching the top 10 in 91 territories.
The season followed Emily’s emotional connection back to France as she moved to Rome for work and helped launch the new Agence Grateau office while navigating her romance with high fashion heir Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini).
Where did season 5 leave us?
The season ended with several threads intentionally left unresolved. Emily turns down Marcello’s offer to join the family business, choosing to prioritize her career in Paris. Meanwhile, Mindy (Ashley Park) accepts a marriage proposal from Nicolas de Leon (Paul Foreman), despite Alfie (Lucien Ravicount) openly questioning the decision. Adding an extra wrinkle, Gabriel invites Emily to Greece, setting up an endless emotional crossroads for the next chapter.
What will happen to Gabriel’s future?
One topic heading into season 6 is the fate of Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo. The character left the show in season 5 to work as a personal chef on a yacht, leaving his long-standing relationship with Emily unresolved.
Bravo has previously expressed dissatisfaction with how the role has evolved over time, telling IndieWire in October 2025: “In Season 1, there was a lot of me in him. But because they made him oblivious to his surroundings and the dynamic, always being the victim, always completely absorbed in translation, and not being aware of what was going on around him and how everyone was manipulating, it became less fun to shoot and watch a character that I loved so much and brought so much to me. Gradually it became guacamole, and I really drifted away from him.”
Netflix has not yet confirmed cast details or story details for the new season.
When will season 6 come out?
At this point, Netflix has indicated that Emily in Paris will return sometime in 2026. Production schedule, number of episodes, and creative details will be announced closer to filming.
For now, the series remains firmly sewn into Netflix’s global framework, with Paris still the anchor of the story, even with fresh backgrounds, evolving relationships, and Emily continuing to balance between personal fulfillment and professional momentum.
