‘The Boys’ season 5 teaser trailer reveals brutal final chapter for the first time

Prime Video has released the official teaser trailer for season 5 of The Boys, the final chapter of the gloriously deranged superhero saga. The footage, premiered in front of more than 3,000 fans at CCXP Brazil and later posted online, sets the stage for the endgame, when Homelander’s dominance tightens, resistance faltered, and Butcher embarks on a plan of his own. Watch the teaser above and read more.

Welcome to Homelanders America

Season 5 introduces a much darker world where Homelander (Antony Starr) rules almost indiscriminately. “It’s Homelander’s world, completely ruled by his erratic, egomaniacal whims,” the Prime Video synopsis explains.

Huey (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are imprisoned in the so-called “Freedom Camp,” Annie (Erin Moriarty) struggles to unite the ever-shrinking resistance, and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) goes missing.

Then Butcher (Karl Urban) stumbles back onto the screen. According to the synopsis, “He sets in motion a series of events that will change the world and everyone in it forever, fueled by his drive to use a virus that can wipe out every super on Earth.”

Supernatural reunions, 5th generation crossovers, and worlds on fire

The trailer shows Jared Padalecki joining the cast, reuniting Supernatural with Jensen Ackles, who returns as Soldier Boy. Padalecki appears briefly in a tracksuit, but details about his character are still being kept secret. Misha Collins also appears in Season 5, completely taking over Supernatural and Kripke’s life.

The trailer also shows Butcher rallying the remaining members of his team. “You’re not the first to lay down your life in a war, but you’re the first to fight a war and save the world,” Karl Urban’s Butcher tells his crew.

The final season will also proceed directly from the events of Gen V Season 2 (spoilers for the Gen V Season 2 finale ahead). Annie’s Rebellion now includes the survivors of A-Train and Godolkin, but the series takes place several months later – and things have gone horribly wrong.

As showrunner Eric Kripke explained, the spinoff’s finale was designed to “set up the chessboard for season five.” He told Radio Times in October:

“The idea is that there’s basically a functioning fascist government, but there’s a growing resistance led by Annie. And surprisingly, A-Train is also part of that, and they’re now joining the Generation V gang, and there’s a growing Dumbledore’s Army, so to speak, to fight Homelander.”

He added, “Season 5 takes place quite a while after the end of Generation 5, so we get to see what happened in that time and how this resistance is progressing. The only spoiler I can give is, ‘It’s not good.'”

release date

Season 5 will premiere in two episodes on April 8, 2026, followed by weekly installments until the series finale on May 20.

This marks the end of one of Prime Video’s flagship shows, a series known for its savage satire, brutal action, political bite and bizarre habit of mirroring reality a little too well.

Behind the camera, the series continues to be led by creator and showrunner Eric Kripke, with executive producers including Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Paul Grelong, and Jessica Chou. The Boys is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Gray Pictures.
