With just days left until its release, Netflix has released the latest trailer for Stranger Things Season 5 Part 1. It’s like the heart beats towards the beginning of the end. Hawkins is fenced in, Vecna is laid back, and the crew is pushed deeper underground than ever before, but this new footage sets the tone for an unencumbered final chapter. Watch the trailer above and read more.

New footage hints at high stakes and bigger threats

This new look wastes no time building up the tension. “I want to see Vecna’s head on a platter,” Dustin declares, setting the mood as the gang gears up for a fight that might decide their lives. We see Lucas alone in a tunnel, confronting the Demogorgon. Eleven leaps – effectively flying – are a reminder that her powers remain a wild card at a time when authorities are cracking down more than ever. And another moment: Steve, Jonathan, Nancy, and Dustin point their car directly into the portal to the Upside Down.

This season’s plot is built around a sense of deepening rifts. As terror grips the town, Hawkins is injured, imprisoned, and under surveillance. Vecna’s slipping through the cracks means the group has no choice but to operate in secret as pressure mounts on Eleven from those who believe she is more of a threat than a hero. And as the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, old memories are clouded by new anxieties. It’s already clear. Everyone, every last member of the party, must unite if they hope to track down Vecna and have any chance of closing the door to the Upside Down for good.

Cast: Favorites and newcomers return

Winona Ryder (Joyce), David Harbor (Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), Sadie Sink (Max), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton ( Most of the ensemble returns for the final season, including Joe (Jonathan), Keeley (Steve), Maya Hawke (Robin), Priah Ferguson (Erica), Brett Gelman (Murray), Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna), Kara Buono (Karen), Amybeth McNulty (Vicki), and Nell Fisher (Holly).

New additions to the mess are Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kaye, Jake Connelly as Derek Turnbow, and Alex Brough as Lt. Akers, each promising new tensions, new alliances, or complications for which the group is unprepared.

Final chapter release strategy

Netflix will release Season 5 in three parts. Volume 1 (4 episodes) will be released on November 26th, Volume 2 (3 episodes) will be released on Christmas, and the finale will be released on New Year’s Eve.
