Fremantle Australia has made two new promotions within its writing team, promoting Ellie Madrich to head of development and Anna Curtis to creative producer.

Madritsch, whose credits include Stan’s Totally Completely Fine and the podcast Wentworth: The Fall Girl, spent 10 years at Fremantle, moving from development executive to associate producer and most recently to development producer.

In his new role, he will drive a scripted slate end-to-end, including shaping the creative pipeline, managing the development process, and deepening creative partnerships.

“Ellie is a local industry success story,” said Fremantle Australia’s Head of Scripts Carly Heaton.

“In this new role as Head of Development, she has climbed every step of the way with creativity, care and sheer determination. Her storytelling superpowers and passion for partnership will continue our goal to surprise and delight audiences both here and abroad.”

Curtis most recently served as co-producer on Netflix’s Heartbreak High, and his previous credits include Home and Away and Back to the Rafters. In my new role, I will lead projects from late stage development through filming and delivery.

“It’s been so much fun watching Anna grow. She combines beautiful instincts with the rigor of real production, and she does it with kindness and gentleness. Stepping into creative producer, she will champion our creative from the late stages of development through to distribution, so what viewers see on screen remains as authentic as the spark with which it began,” said Heaton.

Fremantle Australia CEO Greg Woods said their hard work, passion and growth had led to their promotions, adding that their promotions would position the broader team for future success.

“As an organization, staff development and internal promotion are important elements of our culture and I would like to congratulate these two future leaders of our industry on the next stage of their exciting careers,” he said.

Fremantle’s recent projects include the third and final seasons of Heartbreak High and Neighbors for 10, as well as Amazon Prime, which will air its final episodes next month. The production company is currently developing a four-part drama series, Imposter, starring Jackie Woodburn, Kim Marsh and Dannii Minogue, for Network 10 and Channel 5 in the UK.
