Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson star in Son Saint Bleu, a new true-life drama from writer and director Craig Brewer. A new trailer for the drama has arrived, telling the real-life story of Mike and Claire Sardina, the Wisconsin couple who co-starred in the Neil Diamond tribute act Lightning & Thunder. Watch the trailer above and read the information below.
story
Song Sung Blue is based on the lives of Mike and Claire Sardina, two down-on-their-luck musicians who found love and second chances through their shared passion for performing. Their Neil Diamond tribute act, Lightning & Thunder, became a local celebrity on the Wisconsin festival and state fair circuit throughout the 1990s. Unlike most tribute artists, they did not aim to imitate Diamond exactly, but instead brought their own energy and emotional connection to his music.
roots of reality
The film is based on Greg Coase’s 2008 documentary of the same name, which chronicled the couple’s life over eight years. Before their partnership, Mike was a divorced Vietnam War veteran and long-time sober mechanic with two children, while Claire worked as a hairdresser and raised two children. After meeting through music and forming a band, their lives changed. Their journey is marked by both successes and hardships, including a tragic accident that changes their course as glimpsed in the trailer.
cast and creative team
In addition to Jackman and Hudson, the cast includes Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, Princess King, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi.
Brewer, known for Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, and Dolemite Is My Name, wrote and directed the film, which continues to focus on stories shaped by music and resilience.
release
Son Son Bleu will be released in US cinemas on December 25, 2025 and in Australian cinemas on January 1, 2026.
