The Spot, starring Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor, is a Hulu drama thriller series from writer and showrunner Ed Solomon, with A24 as the lead studio. Production is scheduled for 2026.
Kate Winslet was previously attached to the project as star and executive producer, but left in June for creative reasons. Shortly after that, a Dane approached me. McGregor joined shortly thereafter.
Synopsis: Suspicious marriage
Deadline reports that the series centers on a successful surgeon (Daines) and her schoolteacher husband (McGregor) who begin to suspect that she is involved in a child hit-and-run. Their private fact-finding sparks a troubling audit of their lives – timelines are rechecked, alibis reconsidered, and a web of secrets and competing versions of the night in question widens. As suspicions grow, loyalties fray and the couple’s resolve is tested in the face of hidden sin and possible betrayal.
creative team
“The Spot,” produced and written by Solomon, who also serves as showrunner, will be directed by Solomon, Robin Sweet, and Ariel Kleiman, who will serve as executive producers. A24 will lead production and co-produce with 20th Television.
On the screenwriting side, Solomon’s credits include Men in Black, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and Now You See Me, all of which are series starters. In television, his credits include the HBO Max miniseries “Mosaic” (2018) and “Full Circle” (2023), the latter of which he also starred as Dane.
cast memo
Danes’ recent work runs from Fleishman Is in Trouble to the upcoming Netflix limited series The Beast In Me. McGregor’s television credits include Obi-Wan Kenobi, A Gentleman in Moscow, and the Emmy-winning Halston. More than 20 years ago, the two nearly teamed up on Jodie Foster’s unproduced circus drama Flora Plum, which was shelved due to various delays and funding issues.
