Screen Australia has appointed Adrian Coates, former head of audience data and insights at SBS, as director of strategy and insights.
Ms. Coates most recently served as Senior Engagement Manager at Strategic Project Partners, where she led strategic initiatives for federal and state government agencies, financial services, and FMCG. Prior to that, he spent nearly 10 years as Head of Corporate Strategy at SBS before moving into audience data and insights, integrating traditional media analytics with new data capabilities to drive decision-making across content and corporate strategy.
In his new role at Screen Australia, he will oversee the development, implementation and project management of Screen Australia’s strategy, research and government relations priorities. His appointment follows the recent launch of Screen Australia’s new corporate plan, including Empower, a key pillar aimed at providing the industry with the insights and resources to gain an advantage in a dynamic market.
Mr Coates said he was delighted to be joining the agency at a time when the industry is being “fundamentally transformed”.
“I look forward to working with the team to provide strategic insight to the industry and help the Australian story grow in this evolving landscape,” he said.
Screen Australia CEO Deirdre Brennan said Ms Coates brought “a deep understanding of Australia’s screen sector and the critical role of insight in shaping impact for organizations”.
“Data-driven, results-driven decision-making is one of our key operating principles, and we are excited to work with Adrian to power the screen sector now and into the future,” she said.
Adrian will begin his role at Screen Australia on October 27 and will be based in the Sydney office.
