The final trailer features Dan Trutchenberg’s follow-up to prey and predators, the chase of the Killers of Killers, and Badlands: Killers – this time, the hunters we cheer on are wearing masks. Check out the trailer above and read the essentials.
Meet Dek: Too Small, Exile, Dead Set to Become the “Ultimate Predator”. Instead of stalking the human lead, the film rides a shotgun with Yautzha on his passage hunt. Producer Ben Rosenblatt made it clear that he would screen out rants. “The big idea is that we’re trying to do a predator movie where the predator is the hero, the hero of the film,” he added: “It starts with Yautja Prime…and through both a series of exciting and tragic events, he sets out on a journey on a foreign planet.”
Genna, Weyland-Yutani, and very different Androids
In the future, Deku (Dimitrius Schuster Koromatangi) set in Jenna’s remote world will pass by a path with Chia (El Fanning), a Weyland Utani synth. As producer Ben Rosenblatt told Screen Runt, “On this journey he will meet a Weyland Yutani Synth who has been cut in half and trapped in a nest…waiting some way to help him get out of there,” he added that the company has sent an all-synth mission to hunt the same quarry. The trailer also doubles as Tessa, the “sister” unit of Tia, the trailer, deepens the corporate roas red.
There are no xenomorphs – About the purpose
We spotted the Weyland-Yutani logo screaming for a crossover, but Trachtenberg told Empire to ease expectations. “There’s no Xenomorph in this film.” He said, “We don’t involve the (alien side) just to dig into action figures together. There’s a reason for a great organic storyline for Weyland Yutani (a multinational conglomerate from the alien franchise) to join this film.”
Meanwhile, Fanning hints that it’s not your standard company model, especially with the knowledge she has acquired. “Cia was in Jenna for a while and saw things she wouldn’t normally see,” Fanning told Empire. “She’s absorbing all this new information and she’s broken too, so she’s very different from other synths.”
Predator: The Badlands will open in Australia and US cinemas on November 7th.
