Paramount+ has passed the series’ orders at discretion. This is an eight-episode legal thriller that combines both on-screen and executive producer Nicole Kidman and Elfanning.
The series comes from A24, written by her husband’s author Chandler Baker, produced by an executive, and also featured in the EP. The project reunites Kidman and Fanning, who previously co-starred in Beguiled and co-starred with how to talk to girls at parties.
Prerequisites
Fanning plays Renny, a summer associate at a powerful Dallas law firm who trips over a web of non-disclosure agreements that hides dark truths. Her discoveries are complicated by the fact that she signs the same NDA and draws her into a dangerous clash with Sharon (Kidman), the company’s most frightening partner. The Mentor Protégé dynamic changes hostile when the series asks who can keep secrets and what cost.
How it is put together and who is making it?
The deadline broke the news, and the project was one of Paramount+’s first headline moves under a new structure following the Skydance deal, reporting former Netflix executive Cindy Holland is strategizing directly from consumers. The streamers secured discretion after a competitive bidding battle depicting seven offers across different commitment levels.
The A24 assembled the show at Speed and won Baker’s yet-to-released short stories in a fierce rights contest with a seven-figure purchase price plus additional scripts and development fees. Kidman and Fanning were attached early along with Apple’s upcoming A24 Series Margo’s Got Money issues.
Previously practicing legal law, Baker has adapted his story and executive production alongside Grant. Kidman and Pal Ali are riding through a Blossom movie. Elle Fanning was joined by Dakota Fanning and Brittany Cahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures. Jordan Cerf and Joe Hipps (through his A24-based banner cut) from Linden Entertainment are also EPS. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Why is it a vital play on Paramount+?
Paramount+ shows an appetite that extends beyond existing tent poles, and discretion ticks some boxes: premium talent, timely subject matter, and flexibility of external suppliers. For the A24, it lies alongside titles like Happiness, Beef, Overcompensation, and Margo’s Money Issues, along with another well-known TV play positioned as a sharp, character-driven entry in the company’s prestige lane.
Variety also points to recent moves under the David Ellison regime, including the UFC rights deal from 2026 and the high side of the Timote Chalamet Man Gold package.
