Peaky Blinders will be roving in two new series after the upcoming feature film, with Syrian Murphy continuing as a star and as executive producer. The story moves to Birmingham in 1953, where a bomb-covered city is rebuilt with concrete and steel, and Shelby spies on opportunity amid a rapid upheaval.
A new era of familiar streets
Each newly announced series will be filmed on Digbeth Loc and will run in six episodes, approximately 60 minutes. A studio in Birmingham. The premise focuses on the fight to control post-war reconstruction. This places the Shelby family in the “bloody heart” of “the city of unprecedented opportunity and danger,” as Logline puts it as a “brutal contest of mythical dimension.”
Creator Stephen Knight said in a statement: “We are excited to announce this new chapter in the Peaky Blinds story, once again rooted in Birmingham and tell the story of the city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham Blitz.
BBC and Netflix back the next chapter

The two new series are produced by BBC IPlayer/BBC One in the UK and Gudos and Garrison Drama of Netflix. How does that follow the film?
These series arrive after the featured Peaky Blind: The Immortal Man. Set during World War II, the film discovers that Thomas Shelby returns to Birmingham, where it was bombed, and is carrying out a secret wartime mission. Murphy leads the cast, including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Ross, Stephen Graham, Sophie Randle and Barry Kagan, and directs Tom Harper (who directed three episodes of Peaky Blind) and the script for Knight.
The release date for the film, which closes the film in the second half of 2024, has not been announced. The new show was picked up in 1953 about a decade later, bridging the franchise into the postwar power play of the city, rebuilt from wartime dangers, leading a new generation of Shelby.
