Universal has announced a new trailer for the horror sequel, Black Phone 2. Ethan Hawk is back as a masked serial killer grabber. Check out the trailer above and read the essentials.
Four years after 13-year-old Finn kills aidductor and runs away, Rhine comes back to life. Glover’s voice taunts him by slipping static. “You killed me,” he tells Finn (played by Mason Thames again). “It took a long time, but all of you know that death is a word.”
Finn, now 17, is about to live with what he has experienced. His 15-year-old sister, Gwen (Madelaine McGraw), begins calling in a dream from a black cell phone, watching three boys hunt in a winter camp called Alpine Lake. When a storm strikes, she persuades Finn to go there, and the investigation unearths a duplicate of bruises between Glover and their family’s past.
Conceit is simple and troublesome. Not only has he returned, he is stronger than death, and much closer than they like. As the trailer shows, he is determined to bring pain, and in Freddie Kruger’s style it doesn’t matter what reality you are.
The cast includes Jeremy Davis (as his father Terrence), new faces Demian Bichill (camp supervisor), Ariana Rivas (his nie), Miguel Mora (brother of Glover’s victim brother), Plus Maev Beatty and Graham Abbey.
Dr. Strange and Sinister Helmer’s Scott Derrickson are back in the director’s chair and are once again co-written with C. Robert Cargill. The Black Call comes from a short story of the same name by Joe Hill, son of author Stephen King.
The Black Phone 2 will be held at Australian cinemas on October 16th and at US cinemas on October 17th.
