The trailer lands for the psychological boxing thriller The Cut, starring Orlando Bloom as the former champion, putting everything on the line for the final shot of glory.
Please read the trailer above and read the information.
Directed by Sean Ellis (Humanity, Cursed, Cashback), the film pair blooms with Caitríona Balfe and John Turturro for what appears to be a brutal, emotionally charged comeback story.
The trailer features Bloom’s boxers bloodied and phenomenal, with the sound of blowing landing violently. It’s a career-ending defeat. “People don’t care about statistics, they don’t care just about champions,” he says. This is the line that sets the tone of pressure forward when providing a red shot. Catch: The fight lasts for six days. And he needs to lose 26 pounds to gain weight.
Turturro plays the volatile trainer brought in to prepare him, and wastes no time pushing the original champion to his limits. Balf plays Bloom’s relationship partner. He calls attention: “You can retreat, there is no shame.” Turturro’s aggressively determined character considers her a disability. “You can’t stop,” he tells him. “She didn’t understand that.”
The trailer hints at a psychological dismantling, and Bloom’s character is increasingly unchanging as pressure builds up. The script comes from Justin Bull (banquet), based on the story of Mark Lane. Bloom also acts as a producer. This is a clear passion project, something that appears to require him both emotional and physical strength.
The cut will begin on September 5th at the US cinemas.
