The official trailer arrived for the twisted tale of Amandanox, an eight-part limited series that revisits one of the most infamous and illegal belief cases in recent history. Premiering on August 20th on Disney+ (and Hulu in the US), the series stars as Amanda Knox as Grace Van Patten (The Lie) and is produced directly from Knox himself.

A case of capturing the world and crushing life
Inspired by the real-life events, the series follows Knox’s experience as a 20-year-old American exchange student in Italy who was illegally convicted of murdering his roommate Meredith Karther. It illustrates her arrest, trial, and ultimate exoneration – unleashing how media obsessions, cultural misconceptions, and institutional biases have created a storm that overtakes the truth.
The trailer teases the emotional strength at the heart of the show, including police questioning that Knox is the turning point of her life. “I didn’t lose any shit on set,” Knox told Vanity Fair. “Except that time. We did this scene over two 10-hour days, over and over again. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to get it right… I just remember the sob.”
Creative team with personal interests
This series was created by KJ Steinberg (this is us). He said she clearly took part in the project after meeting Knox. Steinberg said, “Our show is not whodunit. This is how and why this happened.”
Knox is also an executive producer alongside Monica Lewinski, calling her “sister sisters’ reputation companion.” Speaking to Vanity Fair, Knox reflects in ultimately expressing his creative opinion. “Today, I am an executive producer and creative partner, but in the past, even those who have come close to me with the best intentions have always said, “I want to talk about you.” I was not interested in having another person’s voice telling me about the worst experiences of my life. ”
Grace Van Patten said she was deeply moved by the opportunity. “After having people create her story, I found out she took this leap and that she trusted me,” Knox returned emotions, calling Van Patten “deeply thoughtful” and praised her instincts.
Release Date and Episode Rollout
Amanda Knox’s Twisted Story will take place on Wednesday, August 20th at Disney+ and Hallu, with two episodes on sale. New episodes will be dropped weekly with a finale set in early October.
