What actually happened behind the measurement and workout montages? Netflix has announced a trailer for Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser. Please read the trailer above and read more about it.
The biggest loser worthy of TV is the reality competition that once attracted millions of viewers into a week, when competitors fought through extreme training and strict dieting on a $250,000 shot. Behind inspirational music and emotional disclosure was a production model that is now being reconsidered under a much more important lens.
Directed by Skye Borgman (the girl in the photo), the series explores how transformation was framed for Mass Entertainment and the real-world consequences that follow. Through interviews with former contestants, trainers, producers and medical professionals, the documentary reflects the show’s legacy: high prices, harm, and hidden moments that never aired.
The trailer says, “I’ll do anything to get into your show!” – and a calm reflection. Season 8 contestant Tracey Yukich recalls, “My organs were literally closed.” Another claims he was given caffeine pills. Several others suggest that physical demands have been pushed to dangerous levels due to persuasive television.

Trainer Bob Harper appeared in the trailer, saying, “The producers love that sh-t. They were like, ‘We want all the madness, we want it all!”
Others in the trailer raise concerns about unqualified emotional coaching and the blurry boundaries between entertainment and mental health care. “We were looking for someone who was overweight and unhappy,” says JD Roth, one of the show’s executive producers.
Executive producer David Bloom has defended the show’s outcome. Someone else simply says: “People like to tease fat people.”
Suitable for TV: The biggest loser will premiere on Netflix on August 15th.
